Our CNRS unit laboratory (IRL2029) is located within the department of pharmacology of the University of São Paulo (USP) campus of Ribeirão Preto.
This IRL involves research groups from the CNRS – Immunologie et Neurogénétique Expérimentales et Moléculaires (CNRS-INEM) and Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of Sao Paulo (FMRP-USP) seeking to investigate different aspects of immune regulation. These research groups have common interests in studying immunopathological mechanisms of selected infectious and inflammatory diseases and applying this knowledge to identify novel therapeutic strategies.
Our IRL focuses on research in the field of Immunology.
Synopsis: Immune responses need to be tightly regulated to provide effective protection against infectious or non-infectious threats, but at the same time, avoid overwhelming inflammatory reactions that have the potential to cause extensive immunopathology and tissue damage, as seen in many infectious and autoimmune diseases. How immune cells achieve this balance at the subcellular level is the overall focus of our research.
